Chania is considered one of the most picturesque cities in Greece. The city, where harmoniously intertwine the historical sights of different epochs and cultures, often compares with Venice thanks to the significant influence of Venetian architecture and style. Architectural monuments, narrow cozy streets, lots of souvenir shops and a beautiful promenade overlooking the Venetian lighthouse will make a memorable impression on every visitor.
During the tour, we will also visit the unique viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Chania, the monastery of the Holy Trinity, built in the Renaissance style and of the Marafi beach.
Further after we will move to the lake Kournas – he only freshwater lake in Crete. Home to a large number of birds and animals, Lake Kournas is the place where you can encounter moorhens, ducks, geese, herons, cormorants, eels, water snakes, goldfish and rare species of turtles who are permanent residents of this friendly wetland.
Argiroupoli village is an amphitheatrically built village, almost covering the ancient city and including ancient and Venetian architectural material in many homes throughout the area. The upper and lower village are well preserved and many of the Venetian mansions are still residences. Inside and around the village are excavated parts of an ancient city, Roman remains, Venetian buildings with beautiful doorways and Byzantine churches.
